Richard Jones was born and raised in Fresno, CA. After graduating from high school, he attended California State University Fresno where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology and then he became a police officer with the Fresno P.D.. During his more than two decades of experience with the department, he worked in virtually every department within the organization.

Following a five year assignment in the patrol division, he was promoted to detective and for the next fifteen years he worked in several different investigation divisions including property crimes, narcotics, problem oriented policing duties, undercover and gang deterrent programs.

Richard was also a member of the tactical response unit and participated in numerous SWAT activities. He received extensive advanced training in specialized investigations processes including interview and interrogations, property and personal crime investigations, behavior analysis and numerous other courses that enhanced his knowledge of all areas of investigations. He relied heavily upon this training during his long career as a detective for the Fresno Police Department.

During his tenure in investigations, Richard became expert in not only the fine art of conducting the investigations but also in the necessary, legally appropriate document processes that go hand in hand with all the other steps. He was responsible for the creation and execution of search warrants, arrest warrants and subpoenas which resulted in the successful prosecution of hundreds of criminal cases.

His vastly varied cases included working interstate investigations and prosecutions which also fine honed his investigation, interrogation and prosecutorial skills as a detective. Throughout his entire career, he was continually driven with the goal of fully discovering the truth in each case and bringing them to full and proper conclusions and to bring closure to the victim in each incident.

After completing his very rewarding career with the Fresno Police Department, Richard decided that he wanted to continue to bring his expertise and experience to the private sector and in 2015 he formed the Dependable Investigations private investigation agency, where his skills and experience are now recognized as a valuable asset to law firms, business establishments and private citizens.

Over the years, Richard has also been very involved in the community at large, working with the Fresno Police Department’s P.A.L. (Police Activities League), Toys for Tots, FIRM (Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries), Tree Fresno and numerous personal programs to assist needy families in the area.

Richard still resides in Fresno with Lisa, his wife of 23 years and their two daughters. He continues to be involved in his community and to help make the area a safer and more secure environment for all its residents.
